The Museum and Special Events group visited the Liberty Wildlife Center on February 6th.
The Liberty Wild Life Center is a wildlife rehabilitation, education, and conservation center that benefits animals and people. They work in concert with state and federal agencies, local municipalities, utilities, and other non-profits to ensure the survival of wildlife in the urban interface. Our docent took us all through this amazing facility. She was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of wildlife programs. We were able to see and learn about numerous species of birds, such as eagles, owls, vultures, raptors, hawks, falcons, woodpeckers, quail, pigeons, pheasants, etc.
The Center also has reptiles, snakes, and a non-eagle feather repository that provides feathers to Native Americans for use in ceremonies. They have a drop-off window open to receive wildlife animals from 8:00 to 5:00, seven days a week. They do not take any farm animals, cats, dogs, ferrets, or tortoises. We had the best time ever while attending this outing!
Who doesn’t love animals, right? We were awed and pleasantly thrilled to hear about their good works. After the tour, we went to lunch at OHSO’s on Central. Great lunch and good service!
