The MVWC Museum and Special Events Group visited the Heard Museum located at 2301 North Central in Phoenix, AZ on May 8th. Our docent was our very own, Sheila M, from the Moon Valley Women’s Club. Sheila is an awesome docent, with great knowledge and expertise in indigenous artifacts and subject matters. This was a real treat for all of us! We toured a special art exhibit from Kay WalkingStick from the Hudson River School. This exhibit was coordinated and organized by the New York Historical Society. It was amazing and displayed a direction and correlation towards her works, native symbolism, and Indigenous culture. We also toured other exhibitions, shops, native fine arts, jewelry, rugs, and numerous artifacts.
After our tour, we went to lunch at Alexi’s Grill. A locally owned and operated restaurant, that has been in Phoenix for 30 plus years. Great food and great service.
It was a memorable time and fun day!
