Chapter Sisters Book Club:
In February we met at the home of Linda J to discuss the book “The Tattooist of Auschwitz.” Although it’s a novel, it’s based on interviews the author had with her friend who relays his personal experiences as the tattooist. Everyone liked the book even though some of us find the Holocaust difficult to read about. This book is more positive because it reflects the story of 2 survivors.
Hard Cover Book Club
We have read several historical novels as a group.
So far in 2023, we have read The Alice Network by Kate Quinn, which was similar to The Rose Code (also written by Quinn) that we all enjoyed so much.
Another historical novel we read was These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. This book was written as a diary of Sarah Agnes Pine in the Arizona territory from 1881-1901. It was very eye-opening for some of us to realize the tremendous hardships that some Pioneer families endured. We felt like Sarah was a much stronger woman than most would be today.
We also read A Dog’s Perfect Christmas to lighten our moods a bit in December.
