The MVWC Garden Group toured the Carefree Desert Gardens and the Sun Dial on October 23. The town of Carefree has the ambiance and feel of a small, quaint town. This was a delightful outing! The Desert Gardens is the crown jewel of Carefree, AZ, and is an amazing oasis in the desert. It is beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. The Carefree Sundial is the largest Sundial in North America; it is a remarkable piece of art and engineering. The Sundial stretches 62 feet in length and towers 35 feet above the ground. It not only serves as a functional timepiece, but also provides tribute to the town’s artistic and innovative spirit.
Directly after our tour, we went to lunch at the ever popular El Encanto restaurant for Mexican food. Service was exceptional and the food was delicious! Everyone enjoyed the day, and the weather was perfect.
