The MVWC Museum and Special Events Group visited the Martin Auto Museum on January 16. We were pleased to have docents from the museum who were very knowledgeable and well-versed in the history of the museum and the vehicles. The Martin Auto Museum was created in 2005 by the owner and founder, Mel Martin. Mr. Martin saw a need to share a collection of vehicles that represent significant periods of automotive history. The museum features classic cars, hot rods, custom vehicles, imports, auto memorabilia, antique gas pumps, signage, and more. We had the opportunity to see vehicles that were owned and driven by well-known people such as Al Capone, Red Skeleton, and others. The facility is immaculate, and you can see staff continuously polishing vehicles, putting air in tires, etc. It must take an abundance of time and great effort to maintain all those vehicles. Our group greatly enjoyed this outing and would highly recommend anyone interested in the history of vehicles visit this museum. It was very interesting, and the staff was friendly and kind. After our tour, we went to lunch at the Abacus Inn Chinese restaurant. Everyone enjoyed that as well. Good food and very accommodating. It was a great day!
