On Sunday afternoon, January 15, five Friends journeyed down to the Herberger to see “The Secret Comedy of Women” in their Theatre West. This smaller theater was a near-sellout, full of women and just a few brave men who were surely dragged there by their ladies. As advertised, the two-woman comedy with song, dance and stories celebrated all things female from girlhood to womanhood and beyond. We laughed and laughed as they read from their girlhood diaries about “lovers” and the Miracle Bra. We saw the extremely condensed History of Women as portrayed by shadow puppets. Two women in the audience had their very expensive handbags borrowed by the actresses, who rummaged through them and used items inside to create hilarious stories. The highlight, however, was their demonstration of many creative uses for Female Products once menopause has rendered them unneeded for their original purpose. And the Pantyhose Ballet was a fitting closing to the show. It is said you should laugh every day; we fulfilled our requirement for at least the coming week.
