Six Matinee Friends enjoyed the classic Noel Coward play “Private Lives” at the intimate Don Bluth Front Row Theater in Scottsdale on Saturday afternoon, August 20. The comedy is a fierce battle of wits and values, taking place in the 1930’s. The actors were excellent, but the costumes (especially the women’s) deserved equal billing.
The art deco designs of the beaded evening gowns were glorious, but every outfit was stunning. And the shoes!—-first to appear were strap pumps with pink polka dots, but sparkly evening heels and spectator pumps with straps also had a showing. We had a wonderful two hours in the sold-out house, and the frozen Peppermint Patties at intermission were a bonus for the day.
