Forty-Six Moon Valley Women’s Club members and guests gathered for our October Luncheon at Ginza Sushi for an awesome lunch and a wonderful social time together.
We were lucky enough to have a group of six Volunteers from Guide Dogs for the Blind, all of whom brought the dogs they are training. These volunteer puppy raisers each introduced their dogs and told us a little bit about how long they have been in the program. We are lucky in Arizona, to have such a robust program to train the dogs who will then go on and finish their training with the staff of Guide Dogs for the Blind before they are matched with an owner.
As the largest guide dog school in North America, more than 16,000 guide dog teams have graduated from GDB from across the U.S. and Canada since their founding in 1942. All of the services for clients are provided free of charge, including personalized training and extensive post-graduation support, plus financial assistance for veterinary care, if needed. Their work is made possible by the generous support of donors and volunteers; and they receive no government funding.
We at Moon Valley Women’s Club applaud the work they are doing and enjoyed being able to learn more about this valuable program.
