On October 19th, the MVWC Gardening Group enjoyed a tour of the beautiful gem, the Japanese Friendship Garden tucked away in the heart of downtown Phoenix. The garden is an authentic Japanese Stroll Garden on 3.5 acres started in 1987 as part of the Phoenix Sister Cities program with Himeji, Japan. We strolled leisurely along the curved paths, viewing the gardens four distinct landscapes. Along the way had the wonderful opportunity to speak with the gardener about some of the various vegetation. The visit was definitely a peaceful respite to our busy lives. Afterwards we then all enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Match Market.
Our next outing is November 9th with a visit to the Plant Stand followed by lunch at the Farm at South Mountain.
