For those of you who have known Eileen Walker in Moon Valley Women’s Club, Leading Ladies Bunco, Mexican Train Dominoes and Restaurant Review, I want to let you know that Eileen passed away last week.
She enjoyed so many wonderful times with us, with her family and traveling the world in her 96 years. I remember her stories of a visit to the wilds of Africa, and even after her 90th birthday, she made a trip to England to visit one of her daughters. Eileen and I both joined MVWC in the mid-1980’s, when the boundaries for membership were opened on the north side of Coral Gables, and that is when we formed Leading Ladies Bunco. We both lived in the Sandahl Homes at that time. Then in the 1990’s, we both moved to Tamarac at Moon Valley where she spent her last several years. Funeral services for Eileen will be Friday July 1 at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Starting at 11:00 am, there will be a viewing, to be followed at around noon by a short service and rosary. It will be live-streamed for anyone who is unable to attend in person and can be viewed at another time. At 1:00 pm there will be a blessing at Eileen’s final resting place next to her husband at Phoenix Memorial Park. The family is also considering a larger celebration of life for Eileen in the spring.
I always smile when I think of Eileen, because she stayed current with news and events, always had her hair and nails done, and she kept up with the Moon Valley happenings right on into her 90’s. I hope this news of her passing makes you smile as you remember your times with Eileen!
