Tuesday Morning Book Club – Submitted by Betty S
The Tuesday Morning Book Club met for the first time in person on March 22,2022 at Betty S’s home. It was great to see people after 2 years of Zoom Meetings.
We were very glad to get together, and also include those on Zoom who were unable to join in person.
The book is “American Dirt”, by Jeanine Cummings. She has done a great amount of research and woven an engaging tale of how many migrants came to the United States.
It tells the story of a drug lord, Javier, and his involvement with the main character, Lydia, and how she meets him. Her husband is a newspaper journalist, who exposes Javier, and what happens when the story comes out in the newspaper.
The book is fascinating and fast paced, a page turner until the end. The story is about the long and arduous journey of Lydia and her son fleeing Mexico to be in safety in the USA.
We had a great discussion and we all agreed that everyone should read “American Dirt”. It is available on your Audible as well as, Book form at the Library. Good Reading!!
Chapter Sisters Book Club Submitted by Linda J.
In March, Chapter Sisters discussed Ann Tyler’s “The Spool of Blue Thread.” Unlike our first 2 books, which we loved, no one gave this one higher than a 3 on a scale of 1 to 5, even though the author has won a Pulitzer Prize for it. In April, we will be meeting at Debbie S’s home.
