Many thanks to everyone who helped bring Christmas to the 30 families we adopted through the social worker at Sunnyslope School. Seventy-seven of our members and 12 of our friends and neighbors gave money, new clothing and gifts for the families. This generosity allowed us to help 100 children and 57 parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Thanks to Members for picking up 19 bikes from Kmart and assembling them. Thanks to everyone for shopping trips for shoes, clothes, gifts, toiletries, paper supplies and groceries. Our shopping days took place at the Kmart Store on Northern and the I-17 and included 168 pairs of shoes, 20 helmets, a skateboard, many dolls, Legos, pots and pans, sets of dishes, diapers, etc. We were also able to furnish Sunnyslope School with extra clothes, shoes, toys, toiletries, throws and gifts to help the school staff bring Christmas to the school families who hadn’t been adopted. Additionally, we were able to provide Kmart gift cards to help the school provide clothing and shoes during the school year. We donated 12 pairs of shoes to the DeColores Shelter as well as some household items. The net proceeds from the February 9th Auction will be used to fund our projects to help the shelter and school for the balance of the year and to help with the 2017 Christmas Adoption project. In addition to helping the shelter and school during the year, we have made a donation to Lookout Mountain School for 19 scholarships for their after-school classes, After School Academy.
